Therapeutic Massage

Occasionally we all suffer minor injuries (explained or unexplained) to our muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. In these cases an evaluation of the body and the particular complaint is required before proceeding with massage or other restorative techniques.

Do I need Therapeutic massage?

This service is designed for those in mind with specific complaints or issues. Therapeutic Massage focuses on the alleviation and prevention of pain and discomfort from tight muscles, scar tissue, and spasms. Therapeutic massage goes beyond relaxation in that areas of concern are evaluated and treated with a protocol of massage techniques unique to your needs.

For what conditions or concerns can Therapeutic massage be used?

Therapeutic massage is useful in treating chronic or acute pain conditions such as:

  • SI joint issues
  • Sciatica
  • Tendenosis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Nerve entrapment
  • Carpel tunnel ….. and more.

What massage techniques are used in Therapeutic massage?

Many massage techniques have been developed for dealing with chronic pain and discomfort. There is not any ONE technique that will always work for every complaint. That said, pain and discomfort are often addressed using a combination of several Therapeutic techniques such as:

  • Myofascial Release
  • Trigger Point Therapy
  • PNF Stretching
  • Orthobionomy
  • Hot/Cold Therapy
  • Aromatherapy

How will this Therapeutic massage be different?

It all begins with listening. How many times have we heard people describe their previous massage experience and say “They didn’t listen to anything I said!”? Too many times! That is why we ask you to fill out a Client History form. Your therapist will review the form with you and ask specific questions to ensure that they understand your needs. Feel free to ask questions and express your concerns. During the massage you may remember other concerns regarding your pain. Please let the therapist know. Often times the massages can be adjusted and fine tuned to meet your expectations.

Will I need more than one treatment?

As the old saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day”! More than likely neither was the condition that led to your pain. Usually clients come to massage after they have been through the western medicine model of care which treats based on symptom rather than cause. So, by the time your been poked, prodded and swallowed plenty of pills, the cause has been aggravated and frustrated into worsening pain. It may take a few sessions or perhaps a referral to one of our network health care providers to correct an issue and get to the heart of it. That said, we are dedicated to helping you feel better.
