What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient, non-invasive, and complementary therapy involving thumb and finger techniques applied with alternating pressure to reflex points on the hands and feet. It centers on the concept that there are pressure points on the hands and feet that when stimulated can affect every organ and system of the body. These pressure points follow the Chinese meridians. Stimulation of these pressure points creates a reflex arc that naturally restores balance and well-being to the whole body.
It is is a holistic approach to relaxation and pain relief which seeks to activate the body’s own natural, innate healing ability.
What can I expect from my first reflexology session?
All Reflexology services begin with a simple client history intake form. This is to ensure that the therapist and patient are communicating correctly. We want you to be happy with the treatment you receive and we want to be sure we have addressed all your concerns in a safe and effective manner.
Next, you will be shown to a quite room and recline on a table or in a comfy chair. The therapist will leave the room while you remove your shoes. Then, she will return and begin the relaxation process by gently washing your feet.
Then you will lay inclined on the table or in the chair. Your session will consist of 60 or 90 minutes of reflexology to feet and/or hands. This will be determined by you and your therapist prior to the session starting.
When the session is complete the therapist will leave the room and you may put your shoes back on. If you have any questions or concerns about the treatment, your therapist will be happy to talk with you any time before during or after your session.
Is Reflexology for me?
Reflexology is for all ages; young and old alike. It feels awesome and there are very few contraindications for reflexology. It is often hard to believe that such seemingly simple pressure techniques can have such a wide range and profound effects on the humane body.
